When you buy a new intranet, it is important that you consider whether or not you should create boundaries for behavior on the intranet.
As the Colibo platform can permit each user to comment and publish content, it is important to set some guidelines as to how the employees are expected to behave on the intranet.
Create an open culture through clear policies
First, it is important to note, that it is highly advisable to create an open culture where people are encouraged (and allowed) to comment and publish content in order to create a free dialogue and break down barriers. If you don't allow people to comment on a post, you risk that the policy backfires - and your employees will think that you don't trust them, as their opinion is - apparently - not valued.
Instead of not allowing comments on certain posts, you should instead create a policy on the communication on the intranet, which is clear and consistent.
A simple policy should clarify what is not permitted on your intranet, such as personal attacts, racist or sexists comments/posts. You should make the policy easily available on the intranet and it is a good idea to link to it from e.g. discussion groups.
What to do when someone posts inappropiate content
IF you experience that employees post something inappropiate, then address the person right away and talk with him/her about the policies and ask him/her to edit or delete the content.
